We are going to Bilbao, Spain!
Eatron Technologies has been selected as one of 15 finalists – and one of only three in the Electrification Service segment—set to present its AI-powered optimisation software to ABB. The event will take part during the Energy Tech Summit in Bilbao, Spain, on April 9-10, 2025.
About the ABB Electrification Challenge
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) play a key role in the transition to cleaner energy. However, ensuring their optimal performance presents challenges. Unplanned downtime and reactive maintenance can lead to inefficiencies. ABB launched this challenge to identify predictive maintenance and analytics solutions that improve BESS performance, reduce operational costs, and enhance efficiency.
Startups were invited to propose solutions using machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics to process real-time and historical data, predict failures, and enable proactive maintenance strategies. The selected solutions will integrate with ABB’s existing SaaS monitoring platform, providing insights to maximise uptime and energy efficiency across industries, including commercial, industrial, oil & gas, and buildings.
Eatron’s AI-Powered Battery Optimisation Suite
Eatron Technologies has built a strong foundation in AI-powered optimisation for mobility, and this challenge represents a valuable opportunity to further our expertise within the energy storage sector. Safety has always been our top priority and a key strength; Our expertise in areas like lithium plating detection in batteries ensures that our solutions not only optimise performance but also enhance reliability and longevity.
By leveraging our deep understanding of predictive analytics, machine learning, and functional safety, we aim to bring the same level of intelligence, efficiency, and security to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as we have done in mobility. Our AI-powered software analyses live and historical data to detect anomalies, predict failures, and enable preventive maintenance, reducing unexpected downtimes and improving system reliability.
What This Means for Eatron
Being a finalist in this challenge with ABB offers us the opportunity to further refine and grow our solutions, deepening our impact and proving our capabilities in optimising BESS operations across various industries.
As a finalist, we are working closely with industry experts and coaches to refine our solution, ensuring we present the best possible collaboration opportunity to ABB. If selected as a winner, we’ll receive $30,000 in collaboration financing, access to ABB’s lab environments, the chance to showcase our solution at the Energy Tech Summit, and networking opportunities through ABB’s SynerLeap growth hub and Microsoft for Startups program, along with further potential collaboration with ABB and its partners
Next Steps
On April 9-10, Eatron will present its AI-powered battery optimisation software solution to ABB in Bilbao. The outcome of the challenge will determine the next stages of collaboration and development.
