Jobs – BMS Test & Validation Engineer – Eatron Technologies (Warwick, UK)

As the BMS Test & Validation Engineer, you will play a critical role in the delivery of control algorithms and software stack for Eatron’s Intelligent Software Layer for automotive & mobility applications. You will coordinate, develop and execute testing in a range of environments, from cell & software level to vehicle level, presenting test results and insights to stakeholders to implement improvements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain development vehicles and HiL rigs used for BMS testing.
  • Develop, integrate, configure, and troubleshoot the test environment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Execute HiL tests to validate BMS functionality and performance under various conditions.
  • Analyse test results and troubleshoot issues encountered during testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges promptly.
  • Perform cell characterization tests to determine the performance and behaviour of battery cells.
  • Support cell data analysis to understand capacity, efficiency, thermal characteristics, and degradation mechanisms.
  • Maintain accurate records of cell testing procedures and results.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans to ensure thorough testing of BMS and related systems.
  • Write and maintain test scripts to automate testing processes where possible.
  • Generate detailed test reports, summarizing findings and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Document all testing procedures, methodologies, and results in a clear and organized manner.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of battery systems, BMS, and HiL testing methodologies.
  • Experience in designing and implementing HIL test applications.
  • Experience of using Matlab Simulink toolchain.
  • Experience of using Speedgoat/dSPACE hardware and toolchain.
  • Good understanding of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay).
  • Proficiency in developing and executing test plans, writing test scripts, and generating test reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills.
