Eatron has been named a winner of the Hitachi eMobility Startup Challenge 2026. The award further reinforces the company’s position as a leader in AI-powered battery optimisation and intelligent battery management software. Hitachi launched the global challenge to identify innovative startups and scale-ups developing technologies that can accelerate cleaner, smarter, and more resilient mobility and energy systems.

The Challenge

The challenge focused on two key areas of innovation: fleet electrification and battery lifecycle management. It brought together pioneering companies from across the mobility and energy ecosystem. Ultimately, finalists were invited to pitch their solutions to Hitachi leaders and explore opportunities to collaborate with different Hitachi business units.

Unlocking More Value From Every Battery

Eatron’s winning proposal centred on the deployment of its AI-powered Battery Optimisation Software (BOS). Our BOS Technology improves not only battery performance and safety but also reliability and lifetime across electrified applications. The proposed collaboration would enable Hitachi’s electrification and energy storage businesses to benefit from advanced battery intelligence. Namely, highly accurate state estimation, lifetime prediction, degradation monitoring, and early anomaly detection. These capabilities help maximise battery availability, improve operational confidence, and extend asset life across both mobility and stationary energy storage applications.

A Partnership Built for Impact

“As electrification accelerates globally, software intelligence will play a critical role in unlocking the full value of batteries throughout their lifecycle,” said Dr Umut Genc, CEO of Eatron. “Hitachi’s vision for transforming mobility and energy aligns closely with our mission to bring intelligence to every battery. With this in mind, we are excited about the opportunities this recognition creates and look forward to exploring future collaboration.”

From EVs to Energy Storage

Ultimately, The award represents another significant milestone for Eatron as it continues to expand beyond automotive applications into energy storage and grid-connected systems. With growing demand for safer, longer-lasting, and higher-performing batteries, intelligent software is becoming increasingly essential to support the transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.

Looking ahead, we are excited to work with Hitachi and its wider ecosystem to accelerate innovation across electrified mobility, energy storage, and the tranisition to net zero.

Recognised on The Global Stage

Meanwhile, Eatron’s success was highlighted in Hitachi’s official challenge video, featuring CEO Umut Genc presenting the company’s vision and Chief Delivery Officer Amedeo Bianchimano accepting the award and praising the accelerator programme.
